Dear Sir/Madam,

 

In keeping with one of our main founding principles, which is to serve as a beacon to graduating high school students seeking higher education, the Jamaica Rockaway Branch is conducting an Essay contest. This contest is open to all high school seniors who will graduate at the end of the 2023-2024 school year and are planning to attend an accredited University or College in the Fall of 2024. The winner/s of the contest will receive a Scholarship from the Jamaica Rockaway Branch in the amount of $1,000.

 

The Topic of the Essay is:

“Will Artificial Intelligence (AI) impact planning for your future career goals? Please provide a rationale for your response. ”

 

The Essay must be a minimum of 200 words, three (3) paragraphs long with an Introduction, a Body, and a Conclusion. It must be typed in the style of the American Psychological Association (APA) using the Times New Roman 12-point font and double-spaced.

 

 Submission requirements are:

  • Student must reside in the county of Queens, NY. 

  • Essay and completed Application form.

  • Current Official High School Transcript with the official school seal

  • Two Letters of Reference - (1) must be from a Teacher), (1) must be Administrator, or Guidance Counselor at your school)

  • Proof of college enrollment or acceptance letters

 

Please share this letter and a copy of the attached application form with your college-bound graduating seniors.

 

The winner/s will have to provide proof of paid University/ College registration before awards are distributed. Awards will be provided directly to the winner by the Jamaica Rockaway Branch. The deadline for the submission of the essay and the requirements listed above is April 30, 2024.
